Books for Events

Do you have an upcoming author or illustrator appearance? Curious City is quite willing and able to provide the books for the event. Here are some answers to questions you might have.

Can you get all of an author’s books?

Curious City is a bookseller and has many resources. As long as the books are in-stock with a wholesaler or a publisher, we should be able to obtain the books needed for the appearance.

How much time do I need to give you?

As much time as you can. Curious City prefers 4-6 weeks lead time to obtain books for an appearance. Do not hesitate to contact us on a shorter notice, though. Books can, in many cases, be obtained in less time.

What discount do you offer on my books?

Authors, illustrators and schools receive a 25% discount off the cover price of the book. Curious City may be unable to pass on the full 25% discount for books obtained from a publisher that offers less than a standard discount.

Do you accept school purchase orders?

Yes. Curious City is able to bill most institutions. We also accept checks, Visa and Mastercard payments.

What if I buy too many books OR too few?

Curious City can help you choose the right number of books for an appearance, but the sales of books can be unpredictable. We will make provisions for both too many books and too few.

Every appearance shipment will come with a set of blank bookplates. If you run out of copies, bookplates can be personalized, another order can be placed and Curious City will ship the additional copies to the school or organization or to the author.

You can return 10% of what you bought from Curious City for an appearance. The books, of course, must to be in the same condition as they arrived in or we reserve the right to reject the return.
