It has been an absolute honor to have imagined, designed and managed The Hey, Little Ant Essay Challenge for authors, Phillip & Hannah Hoose and the 10th Anniversary of their thought-provoking picture book, Hey, Little Ant. Kids from all over the country have been answering the question, “What do you think that kid should do?” in reference to a Kid considering squishing an Ant (who is being uncommonly vocal about her place int he world). Curious City was pleased to once again head up the book committee in their review of over 80 books for consideration in the Raising Reader 2009 (or beyond) collection. This incredible program has given over ONE MILLION picture books and board books to Maine children under five (thanks to the Libra Foundation). The swell staff at Raising Readers and I anxiously await the final scores from the committee and the day we get to select the 12-15 books that will be given out in 2009. Share...
