Boneheads Beach Party

Simply delicious. Melissa Sweet feted all things BONEHEAD on May 25th on the most perfect day on the East End Beach.

Dogs packed the beach, followed their dog hero Garbage Pail Tex, got treats from FETCH, met Shelter Dogs up for adoptions, had their portrait taken, and rode the rails just like Melissa’s characters the BONEHEADS in her new book, Tupelo Rides the Rails.

The event was a visual splendor owing to Melissa’s exuberant visual style and sewing prowess. The “Every Dog Deserves a Home” Game invented by Curious City brains and designed by Alice Design worked swimmingly. Kids received the BONEHEADS Pack–all thirteen lost dogs and their wishes for a perfect home on 13 postcards. They then wound their way through houses staked out on the lawn to find the perfect home for the dog. They slid the dog card through a slot that read, “Give the house a dog” and were left with the one dog they thought was perfect for their home.

You can now declare your dog a BONEHEAD, receive a free sticker in the mail and by doing so support shelters. Check it out at www.mydogisabonehead.com

Thanks to Fetch, The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad, Books Etc., Alice Design, Kennebunk Animal Shelter, Marti Stone Photography, White Dogs Arts, Garbage Pail Tex, Mark Mattos Photography and the unflappable and lovely Aldona Shumway for making this a brilliant event.
